| Hoboken Unleashed is proud to recommend
two dog trainers. Both trainers are certified and accredited
and can help you with your obedience or behavioral training
needs.
Fernando Camacho, our dog trainer
on staff, is certified in dog behavior and training
with the Animal Behavior College. He began his dog behavior
career at a doggie daycare where he spent his days supervising
the daily daycare packs and studying the intricacies
of canine communication. He also worked at a holistic
pet shop, where he learned about canine nutrition and
wellness. In addition to his private training and consultations,
our dog trainer conducts seminars throughout New Jersey
and New York on a variety of dog related topics. He
has written a book on dog behavior which will be in
print by the end of 2009. He also works for the Animal
Behavior College as a mentor trainer, instructing aspiring
dog trainers.
Laura Garber, CPDT is a professional
member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT)
and is certified by the Certification Council for Professional
Dog Trainers (CCPDT). Besides her work in relationship
training and behavior modification with private clientele,
Laura does treatments with and consultations for dogs
at the Liberty Humane Society and leads training for
their P.A.L. (Pitbulls Are Loving) program.
Before this, Laura worked as a behavior expert in the
behavior department at the ASPCA in NYC, where she specialized
in the behavioral evaluation and rehabilitation of the
shelter dogs. A guest lecturer and "Ask the Trainer"
speaker for shelters and rescue groups, doggie daycares,
pet stores, and dog fancy groups throughout the Northeast
and Midwest, she's been a guest on a call-in radio show
called Freewheelin' on the Sirius Radio's
Road Dog channel and has authored many articles
on dog training and behavior.
Laura believes strongly in strengthening the bond between
human and companion animal. For this reason, she regards
training as an exercise in building relationship rather
than obedience.
Behavior Sessions:
Analysis and treatment of any unwanted behavior. Dogs
can pick up some bad habits such as excessive barking,
jumping, nipping, chewing or digging. They may also
develop separation anxiety, aggression, uncontrollable
excitement or show signs of excessive dominance or fear.
During our session we will determine the cause of the
problem behaviors and work together to correct them,
creating a happier, healthier dog. Although most behavior
problems can be addressed in a single session, the success
rate is much higher if we follow up with an additional
session or two to troubleshoot the treatment plan as
well as work on any other issues or training that you
want to expand upon. |
